Rib Chair:
The Rib Chair consists of polished aluminum tubes that represent the skeletal structure of the chair. Walnut is used for the wood components which serves as the median of the overall chair. The chrome tubes up against the black velvet fabric create a nice contrast, in which it represents the vast and deep space between each rib of the human body. Each inner tube is 3/8” diameter while the outer one is 1/2” diameter. The inner tubes lock into the wood form with grooves cut out. An aluminum plate with rubber spacers on the back is attached with machine screws to lock both backrest and seat cage to the wood form. Both of the cushion forms are attached using leather straps that wrap around a specific aluminum tube to complete and create separation in the look. Each leg is attached with a mortise and tenon joint. The wavy or bumpy pattern on the back of the overall wood form is to show the imprint of each rib. As if this was a skinny human the ribs would be shown on the chest.
